Ivo Bolsens, vice president and chief technical officer of Xilinx, will deliver the keynote speech at the SOC Conference 2004, November 3 at 9:15 - 9:45 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Milpitas, California.

The talk will discuss the requirements of digital system-on-chip solutions and the importance of field programmability to the future of new and increasingly popular digital applications. Bolsens will provide an update on the current state of the art in programmable logic technology and highlight emerging trends in this area. Included will be an analysis of the tradeoffs and limitations of so-called structured ASIC approaches. New approaches to leveraging the capabilities and flexibility of programmable logic, including the use of domain-specific platforms will also be presented.
