Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), the world's leading supplier of programmable solutions, today announced it has earned top honors in the Second Annual FPGA Journal Reader's Choice Awards. Xilinx swept all FPGA vendor categories in a survey of more than 350 design teams worldwide in which respondents were asked to rate their experience with FPGA and EDA companies' products and services.
FPGA designers ranked Xilinx highest in reader/customer satisfaction for devices, design tools, service and support, including:
-- Virtex™ and Spartan™ FPGAs -- "Xilinx continues to lead the pack in performance and features, and goes the extra mile in 'explaining how to use their devices for [your] particular class of application.'" -- ISE™ design tools -- "Xilinx has made 'significant improvements' to their tool suite over the past year, particularly in the DSP and embedded design areas." -- Support staff, application engineers, documentation and website -- For the second year in a row, customers rated #1 in this FPGA Journal Awards category because the company "consistently sets the standard for support staff and resources, particularly with their 'robust website' and 'responsible and knowledgeable application engineers.'"
"We're delighted to receive another prestigious reader's choice award from a publication so highly respected by FPGA designers," said Xilinx vice president of Worldwide Marketing Sandeep Vij. "Survey results validate that Xilinx is on the right path, and that our continued investment in robust system-level programmable solutions is paying off for customers. We're grateful to the FPGA Journal for giving designers a 'voice' through this survey, and to our customers for honoring Xilinx with a clear 'thumbs up.'"
"We double-dog checked the answers (even, cleverly, the IP addresses, e-mail domains and other data that needed to match) to be sure that there were no sneaky faux FPGA users trying to skew the sanctity of our results," added FPGA Journal Editor-in-Chief Kevin Morris. "So, once again, still with no comedians or celebrities to read the results and completely devoid of little gold statues, are the winners of FPGA Journal's second annual reader's choice awards."
Xilinx ecosystem partners Mentor Graphics and Synplicity were ranked highest among EDA vendors for tools and support. For more information regarding FPGA Journal Awards, visit http://www.fpgajournal.com/articles_2005/20051004_awards.htm .
About Xilinx Spartan-3 Series FPGAs
In 1998, Xilinx ignited the low cost FPGA revolution with the introduction of the Spartan Series. Today, Spartan Series FPGAs are broadly adopted in high-volume, consumer applications, with over 128 million units shipped and $1.2B in cumulative revenue. With the March 2005 introduction of its Spartan-3E family, Xilinx continues to add new market-specific features to its low cost Spartan Series while reducing the cost by 30X since its introduction, offering 1000 logic cells for as little as $0.46*.
