Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced that Scott Hover-Smoot, 53, has been appointed vice president, general counsel and secretary, reporting to Wim Roelandts, chairman, president and CEO. Hover-Smoot will lead the company's worldwide legal organization, with responsibility for legal policies, corporate governance, securities compliance, intellectual property, commercial licensing, mergers and acquisitions, employment law and litigation.

Hover-Smoot brings more than 25 years of experience to his new position at Xilinx, most recently as regional counsel and director with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. (TSMC). Before that, Hover-Smoot served as vice president and general counsel of California Micro Devices. He holds a B.S. in chemistry from U.C. San Diego, Revelle College and J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law.
