Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), the world's leading supplier of programmable logic solutions, announced today that its Virtex™-5 LXT FPGA family won the prestigious EDN China Innovation Award for Best Product of 2007 in the Digital IC and PLD category. At an awards ceremony held at the 2007 EDN China Innovation Conference in Shenzhen, the 65-nm Virtex-5 LXT platform was recognized for its ultra-fast ExpressFabric™ technology, proven ASMBL™ architecture, low-power triple-oxide technology and hardened PCI Express core.
About 200 nominations were submitted by a committee made up of technology managers from leading OEMs in China, well-known researchers and one senior editor from EDN China. The committee named 76 products from 50 companies as finalists which were submitted for on-line voting by END China readers. Over the course of 50 days, more than 20,000 votes were generated with the Virtex-5 LXT FPGA wining the largest number of votes in its category.
"The EDN China Innovation Award has been a top electronics industry award since its induction to China as part of EDN's innovation award program," said Associate Publisher of EDN China Mu Qiang. "Our goal is to raise awareness of leading edge technologies and applications within the Chinese electronic design industry by recognizing companies for their innovation in product design. The outstanding showing of the Xilinx® Virtex™-5 LXT platform within the Digital IC and PLD category is underscored by it being part of the industry's first 65-nm FPGA family and its superior high-speed and connectivity capabilities."
In April, at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, the Virtex-5 LXT platform was also named Product of the Year in the Digital IC's category in EDN Magazine's 17th Annual Innovation Award Competition. The design team responsible for the development of the Virtex-5 family also took home the top honor as Innovator of the Year.
"Innovation is at the heart of Xilinx culture. This award reaffirms the unprecedented success Xilinx achieved at the 65-nm process node since the introduction of the Virtex-5 family in 2006," said Hing Nan Cheng, Xilinx marketing director for Asia Pacific. "It also reaffirms that Xilinx's flawless execution at 65-nm has instilled renewed confidence among customers of our ability to deliver the latest technology over a year ahead of our nearest competitor."
About Xilinx Virtex-5 LXT FPGAs
