Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), the world's leading supplier of programmable logic solutions, announced today that its Virtex™-5 LXT platform won the prestigious 2007 Elektra Award in the Semiconductor Product of the Year category. The world's first 65nm FPGA platform was recognized for its ultra-fast ExpressFabric™ technology, proven ASMBL™ architecture, low-power triple-oxide technology, PCI Express® Endpoint blocks and low-power serial transceivers.
Organized by Electronics Weekly in association with EDN Europe, the Elektra Awards are one of the most prestigious product technology and business awards in Europe, and recognise the achievements of individuals and firms across the European electronics industry. The awards were presented at a ceremony in London last week.
"It was a great honour to accept this award on behalf of Xilinx amongst so many industry peers and at such a prestigious event. Elektra '07 attracted a record number of submissions for the Best Semiconductor Product category and certainly there were very many strong candidates for the award this year," said Len Lloyd, Marketing Director, EMEA at Xilinx. "This award recognises Xilinx contribution to the advancement of the electronics industry in Europe through our delivery of a strategically enabling technology -- the Virtex-5 platform. It is an honour and delight for Xilinx to be so commended by our industry peers."
The Elektra award joins a long list of accolades received by the Viretx-5 family this year. In April, the Virtex-5 LXT platform was also named Product of the Year in the Digital IC category in EDN's 17th Annual Innovation Award Competition. The design team responsible for the development of the Virtex-5 family also took home the top honour as Innovator of the Year. Virtex-5 LXT platform was also named Product of the Year in June, at the Electron d'Or in Paris (France), and in November at the EDN China Innovation Award in the Digital IC and PLD category.
