Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced that the company has again been named the "Most Respected Public Fabless Company" by the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA). The 2008 award, which was given at the annual GSA's Awards Dinner Celebration, held December 11 in Santa Clara, Calif., recognized Xilinx for its long-term sustainability and technology vision. The company was also honored in this category in 2002 and 2003.
This year, Xilinx was chosen from more than 70 public fabless companies in the world with annual revenues between $500 million and $10 billion. The three finalists, including Broadcom Corporation and Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, were selected on the basis of achieving profitability and market capitalization, among other financial and product successes. The GSA awards committee reviews the companies meeting the criteria, and selects the final list of companies based on the committee's analysis of each company's performance and likelihood of success in the industry. Online voting takes place to allow members of the semiconductor industry, including semiconductor companies and partners, to cast a ballot for the public semiconductor company they most respect.
"We're delighted to be included among such a stellar line-up of finalists -- and honored to receive this prestigious award, especially because the final selection is determined by our peers in the industry," said Moshe Gavrielov, Xilinx president and CEO. "I'd like to thank to each and every one of our employees for their continued commitment to making Xilinx one of the premier semiconductor suppliers in the world. They are the foundation of nearly 25 years of innovation and absolutely key to our future success, particularly as we head into a new era of electronics in which programmability is an imperative."
"Xilinx' reputation as a successful company is evident in the receipt of the Most Respected Public Company Award for companies with $500 million to $10 billion in annual sales," said Jodi Shelton, co-founder and executive director of GSA. "This is the third time they've been awarded in this category, and we are excited to present Xilinx with this distinguished honor."
Previously, Xilinx was also honored with the "Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership" award in 2002, "Best Financially Managed Semiconductor Company" award in 2000, and "Analyst Favorite Semiconductor Company" award in 1999.
