The cover story examines Xilinx's newly announced 7 series FPGAs, consisting of three FPGA families - the Virtex®-7 FPGAs as well as the new Kintex®-7 and Artix®-7 FPGAs - all built on a unified architecture. The issue also includes a feature story detailing Xilinx's new Rad-Hard FPGA family, Virtex®-5QV, which will drastically speed up the sophistication of electronics systems that operate in the harshest environments of space.
"I'm really proud of this issue as it has a great mix of product information, methodology pieces and some stellar how-to articles," said Xcell Journal Publisher Mike Santarini. "The launches of the 7 series FPGA family, quickly followed by the launch of the Rad-Hard Virtex-5QV family, show off the world-class engineering talent of Xilinx. I can't wait to see what fabulous things our customers will do with these chips. And of course I hope they'll remember to contribute an article to Xcell recounting their experiences."
Once again, Xcell Journal invites readers to write a humorous caption for an interesting piece of art in the Xclamations section for a chance to win a new Spartan®-6 FPGA SP601 Evaluation Kit. After deliberations, Xcell's staff will award the author of the best caption with a new Spartan-6 FPGA SP601 Evaluation Kit and recognize second and third place submissions with a Xilinx promotional gift.
