BEIJING, Dec. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced that Xilinx's Zynq™ Extensible Processing Platform (EPP) won "Leading Product Award" and both the 28nm Kintex™-7 FPGA and PlanAhead™ design analysis tool won "Best Product Award" at the 2011 EDN China Innovation Awards held on December 1st in Shanghai. The award recognizes Xilinx's 28nm leadership and investments in silicon and software innovation for accelerating product design.
"Xilinx is honored to receive these prestigious EDN China Innovation Awards for our Kintex-7 FPGA, PlanAhead design analysis tool, and Zynq EPP," said Vincent Ratford, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Business Development at Xilinx. "Everyone at Xilinx is committed to delivering the most innovative programmable platforms for enabling customers to deliver better products faster."
The EDN China Innovation Awards are widely regarded as one of the industry's most coveted honors. The 2011 EDN China Innovation Product Awards were chosen by a committee comprised of technology managers, researchers and EDN China editors, who gave awards based on 142 nominations from 80 companies. The Xilinx® Kintex-7 FPGA, PlanAhead design analysis tool, and Zynq EPP were recognized in the FPGA ; Development Tools and Software; and Microprocessor and DSP categories.
Jeff Lu, Chief Editor of EDN China, commented "Being the world's first 28nm product, the Kintex-7 FPGA marks an industry milestone that surpasses even many MCU providers in their ability to introduce products at this new process node. In addition, the Kintex-7 family also sets an industry benchmark on price-performance, which allows for continued innovation and differentiation in designs at volume price points. "
The Kintex-7 family is one of Xilinx's 28nm 7 series FPGA families built on a common 28nm architecture designed for maximum power efficiency and delivers a 2x price-performance improvement while consuming 50 percent less power compared to previous generation FPGAs. Kintex-7 FPGAs offer high-density logic, high-performance serial connectivity, memory, and DSP, as well as Agile Mixed Signal to enable higher system-level performance, lower cost, through a higher level of integration. These capabilities allow for continued innovation and differentiation in designs at volume price points.
The PlanAhead Design Analysis Tool, is an efficient design solution that helps achieve designer's performance goals and is available as part of the Xilinx ISE® Design Suite. The PlanAhead tool offers an RTL to bit stream design flow with new and improved user interface and project management capabilities. With the PlanAhead tool, users can view implementation and timing results to easily analyze critical logic, and make targeted decisions to improve design performance with floorplanning, constraint modification, and multiple implementation tool options.
The Zynq-7000 family is Xilinx's first Extensible Processing Platform. This new class of product combines an industry-standard ARM® dual-core Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ processing system with Xilinx 28nm unified programmable logic architecture. This processor-centric architecture offers the flexibility and scalability of an FPGA combined with ASIC-like performance and power and the ease of use of an ASSP.
About EDN China Innovation Awards
Now in its 21st year, the EDN Innovation Awards honors the products and people that have shaped the electronics industry over the past year. It has become the most prestigious award in the electronics design engineering category in the North America Region. In 2005, this award was introduced in China by EDN China to an overwhelming response among engineers, academics and the electronics industry as a whole. A combination of votes from experts and design engineers determines the winners of the year, who will also win an honor in the China market. Like the EDN Innovation Awards, the EDN China Innovation Awards is also held annually.
