"We're delighted to be included among such a stellar list of finalists in
multiple categories for this year's competition," said Mustafa Veziroglu, vice
president for Xilinx product and solutions management. "Technology innovation
has been a hallmark of our company through multiple generations of silicon,
software and IP development. This honor is especially fitting as we celebrate
our 25th anniversary and enter a new era of electronics in which
programmability has become an imperative."
The EDN Innovation Awards program features 28 categories ranging from
Innovator of the Year to best contributed article. Nominees must have
demonstrated innovation that resulted in a significant advance in technology
and/or product development during the past 12 months. During the month of
February, EDN's worldwide audience of electronic engineers and engineering
managers will use an online ballot to select winners in each category. The
public is encouraged to visit www.EDN.com/innovation19 to review the nominees
and vote. Winners will be announced at a dinner and awards ceremony in San
Jose, California on March 30, 2009.
The Virtex-5 FXT FPGA platform leverages the Xilinx ASMBL(TM) architecture
to enable fully programmable system-on-chip (SOC) solutions. This innovative
architecture integrates key system building blocks - single/dual processors,
highly configurable DSP elements, high-speed serial transceivers, on-chip
memory and connectivity IP - with the highest performance of any
reconfigurable SOC in production today.
Version 10.1 of the Xilinx ISE(R) Design Suite directly addresses the most
demanding challenges facing designers of advanced FPGAs: the need for
performance, productivity and predictability delivered in a unified design
environment. ISE 10.1 provides a cohesive solution that unites the needs of
logic, embedded and DSP designers and delivers significantly faster
implementations (with an average of 2X faster run-times), allowing more turns
per day.
The XtremeDSP Solutions VSK for Spartan-3A DSP FPGAs is a comprehensive
platform that accelerates the development of video applications on Xilinx
FPGAs. Designed to leverage the cost/performance advantages of Spartan-3A DSP
FPGAs, the latest version of the kit offers an updated set of video reference
designs, based on an embedded design framework, that allow customers to focus
on their unique value added development.
