What: Embedded Systems Conference 2009

Where: McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, CA, Booth #1420

When: March 30 - April 4, 2009

Exhibits: March 31 - April 2, 2009

Xilinx FPGAs provide the foundation for targeted design platforms that enable system designers to increase productivity and minimize development costs through the use and reuse of IP, development boards and industry-leading tools. With programmability increasingly becoming an imperative to electronic manufacturers' ability to keep their innovative edge under challenging business and technological environments, these new targeted design platforms provide system designers with simpler and smarter methodologies for creating flexible FPGA-based system-on-chip solutions targeting a wide variety of markets and applications.

Free Xilinx Hands-On Workshops

Attendees can register for one of two on-site, 90-min workshops where they can get hands-on experience building FPGA-based Embedded and/or Digital Signal Processing systems using Xilinx targeted design platforms. ESC attendees can sign-up for these popular workshops at Xilinx booth #1420 or meeting room N. There will be a drawing for a free MP3 player after each workshop.

-- Implementing an HD-Video Control Plane Embedded Processing System

Tuesday March 31 @ 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. & 5 p.m.

Using a Xilinx targeted design platform, attendees will implement an FPGA-based MicroBlaze(TM) processor system controlling an HD-video data pipeline with real-time object recognition. This workshop includes implementation of the processor system, connection of the video pipeline, addition of the video recognition engine, and viewing results of modified pipeline parameters.

-- FPGA-based Co-Processing for DSPs using Model Based Design

Wednesday April 1 @ 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. & 5:30 p.m.; Thursday April 2 @ 11 a.m., 1 p.m., & 3 p.m.

In this hands-on workshop co-instructed by Xilinx, Avnet, Texas Instruments, and The MathWorks, attendees will use a video motion estimation algorithm to learn how to employ model-based design techniques to develop a co-processing system consisting of a real-time image stabilization application running on a DSP and an FPGA.
